August 2010 Part 1: World of Badminton

hey guys! I'm back with another dose of blog posts.. well, actually only just one post for now.

I've been quite busy at the moment because the school exams haven't come to an actual end..
1st it was the SPM exam trial 1 which lasted 2 weeks and after a week (Friday, 13 Aug), Excel storms in with P. Moral 1st.. for this time around since the SPM trial, I don't have hard time with my Moral paper anymore.. it's quite easy now really (not).. hahaha.. but still, it's not hard for me anymore.. and I'm also glad that none of us in class were cheating! *CLAP*

ok! so, what's in it for this month of August? well, it's what most will call, "Bulan Merdeka"! yay! 31st August is coming in already and it's also the start of the time of fasting for the Malays. well, I wish them Selamat Berpuasa!

in other news, does anybody know that the World Badminton Championships is coming????

well.. it's not just coming, it's on 23rd of August! honestly, now the world badminton championships fever is on me.. and it's much worse than FIFA World Cup! hahaha.. sorry guys.. I'm just a true badminton fan so I hope football lovers don't mind me.

so, who will be crown the world champion this year? the biggest hype of the event will of course be in the men singles.. with the draw filled with the biggest stars of badminton to date: Olympic and current World champion Lin Dan of China, All England champion and current world no.1 Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia, European no.1 and world no.2 Peter Gade of Denmark, former world and Olympic champion Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia and many others like Simon Santoso(INA) and Chen Jin(CHN) will all feature in the tournament. the world champion Lin Dan is hoping to retain his title and is expected to meet the world no.1 Lee Chong Wei in the semi-finals if all goes well for the two. both these top of the world players have never meet in the world championships and it would be a mouth-watering match if the two are to meet on court in Paris. or.. new champions will arise! my bet is of course on my badminton hero, icon, and idol; Lee Chong Wei. he still needs to prove all his critics wrong and I understand that it will be hard to handle the pressure especially when you're no.1 in the world. so, good luck Chong Wei!!

furthermore.. this is for all badminton peeps (fans and players).. has anyone heard of new Yonex racquet designs? to those who heard it, it is true and it's coming soon to stores this month! so check out your nearest badminton store that sells Yonex products for more info or simply go to http://www.yonex.com/wbp/index.html for all details..

first up, the Armortec 900 Power LCW design:

the colour identity of LCW (Lee Chong Wei) is a proud yellow. while yellow is the primary colour of the racquet, the frame sides are black, and the top of the frame is white. its look and feel hints the fierceness of the tiger in the deep forests of Malaysia.

the yello also captures LCW's feeling of pride when he plays. the top of the frame is coloured white to express the ease and lightness of his swing.

furthermore, there is an intensely beautiful blue colour on both sides of the frame, representing tiger's eyes.

"I feel positive when I play games with this racquet design" LCW told YONEX after seeing his racquet model. this racquet embodies his lightning sharp playing style.

next, the Arcsaber 10 PG design:

PG's (Peter Gade) colour identity is a gentleman's silver. there is a brilliant white colour design on the frame running through the shaft to which a champagne gold is added. the whole body looks gorgeous and sleek.

this racquet uses fewer colours to give it a clean, subtle style. YONEX worked hard on the silver to reflect the exclusive image of PG. The gold colour on the top and on the lower left and right part of the frame gives the racquet a romantic rapier quality.

PG requested the colour designs to be simple and to express his desire to win with elegance, which is what the champagne gold represents. power and panache lie at the heart of PG's racquet design.

Lastly, the Arcsaber Z-Slash TH design:

TH's (Taufik Hidayat) racquet is red signifying his fighting spirit. the black on the top and bottom of the frame demonstrates power, and the upper right and bottom left are coloured like a white flash.

YONEX did extensive research into finding the best shade of red for the main body of the racquet, using subtle gradations and checking for colour changes under different lighting conditions. the rich deep red that YONEX developed expresses the strength and pride of TH. it also makes the design bold and eye catching.

the logo on the racquet is an original design. it represents the fact that TH's spirit is in every detail of the racquet.

well.. I guess that's all for now.. I'll be uploading the product images in my facebook page. be sure to check it out... to be continued in Part 2!
